For six years the State of North Dakota has operated a private network on the DCN backbone, with a Network Operations Center (NOC) location in Bismarck.
ITD pushed to provide a state-of-the-art statewide network helping to provide economic development across North Dakota in our first STAGEnet effort in 2000. With the expiration of that contract with DCN, ITD was looking to again become a national model on how state government can acquire cost effective services for its needs. DCN againstepped up to the plate to provide those services. ITD designed a network that will grow with the state’s needs over the next seven to ten years. In turn, the state will help the vendors invest in high-tech infrastructure that provides a win for the vendors, the state, and the citizens it serves.
The North Dakota Statewide Technology Access for Government and Education network (STAGEnet)was created by the 1999 legislative session. STAGEnet provides broadband connectivity, Internet access, video conferencing and other networking services. All state agencies, colleges and universities, local government, and K-12 schools are required to participate in STAGEnet.
DCN provides a cost-effective solution to connect all schools and political subdivisions across the state. |
